Magic or Madness

Reason, a highly self-sufficient fifteen-year-old, spent her childhood in the Australian outback, on the lam from her grandmother Esmeralda. Reason`s mother Sarafina claims that Esmeralda believes herself to be a witch, and that she has committed any number of nasty, bloody deeds in the service of her supposed magic. Unfortunately, Sarafina`s now locked inside a mental hospital and Reason has been sent to live with Esmeralda. Of course, Reason still agrees with Sarafina that magic doesn`t exist; that is, until she opens the back door of her grandmother`s sunny Sydney house and finds herself in the midst of a chilly New York City winter....
